I, the undersigned apply for registration as a member of Kenya National Association of Social Workers, as per the rules governing such registration. I have read and understood the Associations’ constitution and pledge to uphold its’ objectives, rules and regulations for the benefit of the social work profession.

CONSTITUTION

The KNASW constitution is the written rules and regulations of the association that provide a framework for our governance and operation. The current constitution used was adopted on 25th November, 2013.  
MEMBERSHIP

Social workers join KNASW to advance their careers, to connect with colleagues, and to protect their practice-all while advocating for the profession and important social issues. KNASW members enjoy benefits and networking provided by both the national office and their local branches, for one registration fee and annual subscription fees.

KNASW offers membership categories for every stage of your career, with corresponding fees. In exchange for your fees, KNASW members benefit from a variety of resources that enhance professional growth and keep members connected. From training and continuing education to credentials, ethics and consultancy, KNASW provides career advancing tools and information.

Membership Categories:

Founder members: Those who are actively involved in the establishment of the Association are the founder members.

General members: General membership can be issued to those persons who can contribute to achieve the organization’s objectives.  General membership is open to qualified social workers.

Lifetime Members: Lifetime membership can be granted to the aggregate amount of money slated in this constitution

Honorary Membership: Persons who assist the Association to meet its goals whom the Association thinks are important and who made appreciable contribution to the Association can be issued honorary membership as per the decision made by Executive Committee.

Honorary members can take part in the meetings of the Association but is not privileged to vote during the elections and his/her presence will not affect the quorum.

Full Membership: Full membership shall be opened to graduates of two year – certificate, diploma or degree from any accredited school of social work and people with recognized training in related discipline i.e. Case Work, Group Work / and Community Work.

Associate Membership: Associate Membership shall be open to persons:

(a) Who have been engaged in social work practice for a period or more than 3 years and who may not necessarily have the required professional training.

(b) Who have interest and are supporters of social work profession and activities and may not be social workers by profession.

Student Membership: Student membership shall be open to those pursuing studies leading to the award of Social Work Certificate, Diploma or Degree in all accredited schools of Social Work.

Any student membership application shall be recommended by a recognized social work student body.

Student membership does not entitle the member to nominate to vote or to be elected to the Executive Committee. Corporate Membership : Shall refer to institutions that may have interest in pursuing the association’s goals in all manner possible and will make individual contributions at the rate stated in the constitution.
